The Borno State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the killing of three persons after a failed attack by four suspected suicide bombers in Gubio, Borno State.
The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Aderemi Opadokun, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Opadokun said, “There was an explosion in Gubio about 85 kilometre to Maiduguri at about 0550 hours (5.50am) on Wednesday when four suspected suicide bombers in military uniform infiltrated Gubio town in Gubio Local Government Area.
“Two of the suspected bombers were said to have detonated Improvised Explosive Devised strapped on their bodies near two empty mosques.”
The commissioner further said the suspected bombers in the process, killed themselves and three locals.
Speaking further, he said, “Two suicide bombers were killed by troops while they were trying to reach a military location in Sabongari Damboa,” adding that, “Security agents have visited the scenes and normalcy has been restored.”
