The Premier League giants were deservedly behind at half-time after Atdhe Nuhiu’s goal but second-half substitutions changed the game before the midfielder won it late.
The Owls were excellent in the first half and good value for their lead but the introductions of Samir Nasri and David Silva on the hour changed things for City, who soon saw the two combine for Silva to then set up James Milner for the equaliser.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men had to wait for the breakthrough but it eventually came through Milner’s second in stoppage time, a tap-in from Nasri’s cross that left the Championship side deflated after a game which they did not deserve to lose.
